UVU PR Students Learn From Fashion & Beauty PR Experts
Orem, UT - February 6, 2019 - Utah Valley University’s Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (UVU PRSSA) held its first major event of 2019 titled Little Black Tie Event. Students learned from UVU alumni who have previously worked or are currently working in fashion and beauty public relations.

UVU alumni Priscilla Rountree who is the current PR Director at Younique and Sydney Kleinman , who has worked as a social media manager for a high-end influencer, shared knowledge that they have learned from their respective industries and gave advice on how to prepare yourself as a professional post graduation.
“Writing is one of the most important skills you will have,” Sydney said. “To practice, become a freelance writer! Learn to adapt to different voices, and always be open to feedback from your superiors.”
Priscilla and Sydney also spoke on the importance of immersing yourself in what you love. “Familiarize yourself with top journalists in the industry,” Priscilla said. “Follow them on their personal accounts and engage with them. Building a relationship with them now will propel you in the professional world. Demonstrate your passion and enthusiasm and you will set yourself apart.”

In 2013 and 2016, they had received the National Outstanding Chapter award. In addition to holding monthly professional development activities and programs, UVU PRSSA has received four Golden Spike Awards, including Best of Show and Utah’s Top PR Industry award.
