UVU PRSSA Faculty Advisor Named UVU's New Associate Vice President of University Marketing & Communication

Stephen Whyte Moves to University Administration

Orem, Utah - May 13, 2017 - Utah Valley University (UVU) President Matthew Holland named UVU PRSSA Faculty Advisor Stephen L. Whyte as the university’s new Associate Vice President of University Marketing and Communication. Whyte is replacing Chris Taylor, UVU’s new Associate Vice President of Government Affairs.

“This is an exciting time in the history of UVU when the University is consistently reaching historic milestones,” said Whyte. “It is a great honor to serve in this new role and I look forward to bringing increased visibility to this dynamic institution and the outstanding students, talented faculty and staff, and wonderful programs that are the heart of UVU.”

Under Whyte’s leadership, the UVU student public relations chapter was recognized by the Public Relations Student Society of America as the 2016 Outstanding Chapter in the nation out of 340 universities. This is the chapter’s second Outstanding Chapter award in the last four years, among other awards. Whyte has played a crucial role in the success of UVU PRSSA and will be dearly missed.

“While we are sad to lose such a rock solid professor and beloved PRSSA advisor,  we are so excited for Professor Whyte to be appointed to this great honor,” Wade Draper, UVU PRSSA President, said. “He has laid the foundations and built the blocks on which we now stand. We owe a lot to Stephen Whyte. We couldn’t be more excited for him and the many adventures and successes ahead.”

Whyte will begin duties as Assoc. VP of Marketing and Communications effective immediately. Kim Hanson, lecturer of communication and public relations, will be taking over leadership as Faculty Advisor for UVU PRSSA.
