Utah Valley University Rolls Through The Decades
OREM, UT - September 19, 2018 - Utah Valley University's Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (UVU PRSSA) opened the school year with their first social event “Rolling Through the Decades.” Nearly 80 students were in attendance at the event and many, including all of the executive board, were dressed in costumes from different decades.

“I love seeing the students come together and build connections with each other,” said VP of events Paige Simpson who coordinated the event. “Growing our networks is what PRSSA is all about and I think that goes beyond networking with professionals. Making Connections with each other is what makes it enjoyable, exciting and straight up fun. I love being able to provide a place for the UVUPRCrew to build those connections.”
The event was embellished with items and decorations from various eras ranging from the 50’s to today. Each table had items ranging from Disney VHS tapes to records by Prince. The highlight of the event was crepes catered by The Roll Up Crepe and a table adorned with retro candy.
“I can tell this year is going to be great from the turnout we had from this event,” said the president of UVU PRSSA Tanner Kahl. “We had a huge turnout tonight, and I’m hoping this will help our committees grow so when most of us on the executive board graduate, we can continue having a strong chapter.”

UVU’s Chapter of PRSSA was established in October of 2009. In a short seven years, their Chapter has more than 140 active students within the university and has received local, state and national recognition. In 2013 and 2016, they had received the National Outstanding Chapter award. In addition to holding monthly professional development activities and programs, UVU PRSSA has received four Golden Spike Awards, including Best of Show and Utah’s Top PR Industry award. UVU’s Chapter of PRSSA is integrated within UVU and its surrounding communities through service projects and professional development excursions.
